Photo Essay - Isobel Littler and Rachael Bradley

Urban Resting Places
By Isobel Littler & Rachael Bradley

Rationale:

The theme of our photo essay is “urban resting places”. The concept behind this reflects Murray’s idea of the every aesthetic as we often overlook or fail to notice these resting places whilst we go about our day to day lives. As amateur photographers we encapsulated new, unique and different ways of perceiving these resting places through our sub-theme of lines and angles. By composing the photos with a black and white effect, the viewer is able to focus on the lines and angles of the resting place, without the distraction of colour. By overlapping two sound tracks throughout the photo essay we have captured the embodiment of what it is to utilise a resting place within an urban environment. Ultimately, we have taken these mundane objects and through photographing them with a focus on their lines and angles we have depicted Murray’s concept of how something can get lost through a photograph, yet we have demonstrated how one can perceive it in a new and innovative respect.
